The UK Manufacturing Forum mission

To support a strong UK economy, we need to have a globally leading UK manufacturing ecosystem and that requires an effective innovation pipeline for the engineering and manufacturing community.

Our advisory board

With key representatives from across the research and industrial communities, our Advisory Board shapes and oversees the delivery of the UK Manufacturing Forum’s portfolio of activities. They act as crucial advisors to our overall programme and work with relevant stakeholders to support the creation of challenge-led missions.

Details about our Advisory Board can be found below.

Our supporting organisations

Since its creation in 2018, the UK Manufacturing Forum has been supported by two of the nation’s leading research and technology organisations: the High Value Manufacturing Catapult and the University of Cambridge’s Institute for Manufacturing.

High Value Manufacturing Catapult

The High Value Manufacturing Catapult is the go-to place for manufacturing technology innovation in the UK. Our seven centres across the country cover the full range of manufacturing technology capabilities, from materials to biologics, from automation to virtual reality, and from additive manufacturing to metal forming.

Our centres offer open access to the latest industrial scale equipment, leading expertise and an environment of collaboration between industry, academia and government. We work with businesses of all sizes and all sectors to help turn ideas into commercial applications by addressing the gap in, and accelerating the activity between, technology concept and commercialisation.

Institute of Manufacturing

The Institute for Manufacturing is part of the University of Cambridge’s Department of Engineering. We are a dynamic body of researchers, educators, practitioners, professionals and technical experts contributing to world-leading research and education. With a focus on manufacturing industries, the IfM creates, develops and deploys new insights into management, technology and policy.
